German graphic designer (1922–1991), he co-founded the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm and led the group responsible for the visual identity of the 1972 Munich Olympics. His work coordinated posters, pictograms and other elements through grids, vivid colours and a coherent visual system designed to communicate the international event.
